Abstract

The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 marks a turn in history. With the profound impact this event had on the geopolitical landscape of the world, the effects of it are still being felt today. In the Middle East, Russia has played a key role in the Arab Israeli conflict while pursuing its own interests in the region. This paper explores Russia’s involvement in the region and, specifically, Palestine, including its relationships with the United States, Israel, and other surrounding nations.
